Huawei has officially unveiled its new Watch Kids X1 series, introducing two smartwatches designed specifically for children with advanced safety, communication, and health-tracking features.
The new lineup includes the Watch Kids X1 and Watch Kids X1 Pro, both announced during Huawei’s global Innovative Product Launch event alongside several other wearable devices, including the Watch Fit 5 series and Watch GT Runner 2 Racing Legend Edition.
Child-Friendly Design With Rotating Display
Huawei has focused heavily on creating a kid-friendly design for the new smartwatches. Both models feature a flippable 360-degree rotating body that allows children to adjust the viewing angle and use the watch more creatively.
The standard Watch Kids X1 comes with a soft silicone strap, while the premium X1 Pro features a detachable watch body that can be inserted into a special camera-style case included in the box. Huawei says the detachable setup transforms the device into a compact handheld camera for children.
Both smartwatches feature a 1.82-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 480 x 408 pixels and include an anti-sunlight protective layer for improved outdoor visibility.
Dual Cameras and HD Video Calling
The Watch Kids X1 series comes equipped with a 5MP ultra-wide front camera and a 13MP rear camera, enabling children to capture photos, record videos, and make HD video calls.
Huawei has integrated the devices with its FamCare app, allowing parents to communicate with children directly through video calls. The company says the ultra-wide front camera is designed to capture group selfies and wider scenes more effectively.
The X1 Pro model will be available in Black and Purple color options, while the standard X1 comes in Blue and Pink.
Real-Time Tracking and Safety Features
Safety remains one of the biggest highlights of the Watch Kids X1 lineup. Huawei has included dual-band GNSS positioning, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, WLAN, and cellular connectivity to provide accurate real-time location tracking.
Using the Huawei FamCare app, parents can:
- Monitor their child’s activity status in real time
- Set safe and restricted zones
- Receive alerts when children enter or leave selected areas
- Manage app usage remotely
- Enable focus mode during school hours
- Block unwanted calls
- Make direct video calls to the smartwatch
The devices also include an Emergency SOS feature that sends alerts or places emergency calls when the side button is pressed five times rapidly.
Health Monitoring and Hardware
Huawei has also added several wellness-focused features, including emotional well-being monitoring and continuous heart rate tracking.
Both models feature 2GB RAM, while storage differs between the variants. The Watch Kids X1 includes 32GB internal storage, whereas the X1 Pro offers 64GB storage capacity.
The smartwatches are equipped with multiple sensors, including:
- Accelerometer
- Gyroscope
- Barometer
- Optical heart rate sensor
- Magnetometer
- Hall effect sensor
Huawei has also included built-in speakers and microphones along with IP68, IP69, and 2 ATM water resistance ratings for added durability.
Battery Life and Price
According to Huawei, the Watch Kids X1 series can deliver up to one day of typical battery life on a single charge.
The standard Watch Kids X1 is priced at approximately $293, while the Watch Kids X1 Pro costs around $410. Huawei confirmed that both devices will go on sale soon in multiple global markets.
