LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the province’s first Sky Glass Bridge project in Kotli Sattian, Murree. The government plans this project to boost tourism and improve infrastructure in the Murree.
She made this decision during a high-level meeting with Nawaz Sharif, where officials reviewed the Murree Protection and Restoration Plan.
Steps to Control Landslides and Protect Residents
The government will hire international experts to control landslides in Murree, which have caused serious problems in recent years also many peoples died or injured during landsliding.
Maryam Nawaz ordered immediate action to reduce the risk of mudflows and protect affected areas. She also directed authorities to provide financial support and rehabilitation for people affected by landslides in Chatta Mor, Darya Gali, Bansra Gali, Namal, Jheka Gali, and nearby locations.
New Hospitality Zones and Tourism Expansion
The government approved three new hospitality zones in Shawala, Sozu, and Bruri. These areas will include modern tourist facilities to handle the increasing number of visitors.
Officials will also work with private companies to build five-star hotels to improve accommodation standards in Murree. A team of experts will manage and monitor the overall restoration and development work.
Glass Train Project and New Attractions
Maryam Nawaz set a one-month deadline to start work on the Murree Glass Train Project, which aims to offer a unique travel experience for tourists.
The meeting also reviewed several new attractions, including:
- Three modern parks
- A zoological garden in Bansra Gali
- An eco-friendly zone
- A new bridge crossing
- A modern conference facility
To protect wildlife and promote eco-tourism, authorities will build a Bear and Tiger House and a Bird Aviary.
Glamping, Adventure Tourism, and More Projects
The government will build Murree’s first Glamping Pod Village at Chewra Hill to attract both local and international tourists. The private sector will manage this project.
Officials also approved a paragliding club in Chewra to promote adventure tourism.
Meanwhile, projects like the Kotli Sattian chairlift, Punjab House, and Forest Rest House are still under review.
Water Supply and Infrastructure Improvements
Maryam Nawaz ordered officials to complete the feasibility report for a bulk water supply project from the Jhelum River to Murree by April 30.
She also approved the creation of Punjab’s first Facility Management Unit, which will handle construction, maintenance, and management of government buildings across the province.
