Report Of Admission
Former Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa was reportedly admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) after suffering a head injury after falling in his home in Tuesday early morning, Reported Geo News.
According to Geo News, the incident occurred at around 4:30 a.m., when the former Army Chief slipped in the bathroom of his house. He sustained injuries to his head and is currently receiving treatment in the ICU.
Tenure As Army Chief
General Bajwa served as Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff from 2016 to 2022, retiring on November 29, 2022, after completing his tenure.
Militry Career And Key Positions
Before assuming the army’s top post, he held several key appointments at the General Headquarters (GHQ), including serving as Inspector General of Training and Evaluation. Earlier in his career, he also worked in 10 Corps as a lieutenant colonel, He performed duties as a General Staff Officer.
He has international experience as well, having served with a United Nations peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo as a brigade commander. Additionally, he remained Commandant of the Infantry School Quetta.
Regiments
Geeral Bajwa belongs to the Baloch regiment, a regiment that has produced several army chiefs, including General Yahya Khan, General Mirza Aslam Beg, and General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.
