ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Aviation Authority (PAA) has directed its employees, union members and office-bearers not to criticize the federal government or the authority on social media and other public platforms.
The authority has warned that employees who violate the instructions could face disciplinary action under its service regulations and relevant laws.
PAA Imposes Social Media Restrictions
The new instructions cover social media posts and other forms of public communication. The authority has directed employees not to publish, share, endorse or circulate content that criticizes:
- The federal government
- Pakistan Aviation Authority
- Government policies and decisions
- Official actions and decisions
- Government and public-sector officials
The restrictions cover written statements, allegations, comments, social media posts, audio messages and video messages. Employees also cannot endorse or circulate critical content published by others.
Restrictions Also Cover Public Statements
The authority has also instructed employees to avoid unauthorized or insulting statements about public office-holders and officials.
The restrictions apply to officials of the federal government, the aviation authority and other government or public-sector organizations.
Employees must also avoid publicly criticizing government policies, decisions and actions through digital or other public platforms.
Violations Could Lead to Disciplinary Action
The PAA has warned employees, union members and office-bearers that violations could trigger disciplinary proceedings under applicable laws and service regulations.
The authority has made the instructions effective immediately.
The directive gives PAA employees clear limits on public comments about the federal government, the aviation authority and their policies or decisions.
