FBR Announces Sale of Bahria Town’s Entire Murree Property in March

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has said it will sell all of Bahria Town’s land in Murree at a public auction on March 5, 2026. This step is being taken to collect about Rs. 26 billion in unpaid taxes from the developer of Bahria.

Why the Land Is Being Sold

The FBR plans to auction off 527 kanals of land in Murree because Bahria Town has not paid taxes of year 2020 and 2022. The unpaid amount is around 26 billion rupees.

The auction will take place at the FBR’s Large Taxpayers Office in Islamabad. It was first scheduled on February 16 but postponeded due to some reasons.

Court Ruling Led to Tax Change

The issue began after a Supreme Court decision in March 2025. The court ruled that property developers must record income from plot sales immediately, instead of delaying it until construction is completed. Because of this change, Bahria Town had to pay more tax than before.

Property Details

The land that will be sold is in Mauza Kathar Sharqi on Angori Road in Murree. The FBR took control of this land on September 22, 2025 due to the unpaid taxes.

What This Means
