KARACHI: Pakistan State Oil Company Limited (PSO) has marked 50 years of strategic cooperation with Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), strengthening a long-standing energy partnership between Pakistan and Kuwait.
PSO and KPC have supplied Gasoil and Jet Fuel to Pakistan since 1975, maintaining their cooperation through major changes in energy markets and global conditions.
Senior representatives from both companies gathered to mark the 50-year milestone and discuss opportunities to expand their cooperation in Pakistan’s energy sector.
PSO and KPC Plan to Expand Energy Cooperation
PSO and KPC want to broaden their partnership beyond Gasoil and Jet Fuel. The companies are exploring greater cooperation in Motor Gasoline, LPG and other petroleum products.
They are also examining potential joint ventures in refining, petroleum storage, infrastructure and terminal facilities. In addition, PSO and KPC want to develop shipping and logistics cooperation to strengthen Pakistan’s petroleum supply chain.
PSO said these initiatives can strengthen Pakistan’s energy security while creating new commercial opportunities for both companies.
The two companies also plan deeper cooperation around the shared energy priorities of Pakistan and Kuwait, including long-term sustainability goals.
PSO Credits Government Support
PSO thanked the Government of Pakistan, the Petroleum Division of the Ministry of Energy and the National Commodity Management Committee (NCMC) for supporting the policy framework that enables energy cooperation and strengthens the country’s petroleum supply chain.
The company said continued government support has helped Pakistan maintain reliable energy links with Kuwait.
Pakistan has relied on KPC supplies for decades, with the partnership also helping PSO secure petroleum products for the domestic market. Earlier this year, Pakistan and Kuwait again coordinated on the supply of diesel and jet fuel amid regional shipping challenges.

PSO also thanked Sheikh Khaled Ahmad Al Sabah, Managing Director of International Marketing at KPC, and the wider KPC leadership for their continued commitment to the partnership.
A PSO spokesperson said the relationship between Pakistan and Kuwait goes beyond commercial cooperation and reflects friendship, mutual respect and solidarity between the two countries.
“The bond between Kuwait and Pakistan transcends business,” the PSO spokesperson said.
The spokesperson added that PSO and KPC will continue converting the strong relationship between the two countries into practical benefits for Pakistan.
PSO and KPC Prepare Roadmap for Next 50 Years
PSO plans to welcome Sheikh Khaled Ahmad Al Sabah and the KPC delegation to Pakistan to formally commemorate the 50-year partnership and discuss a roadmap for the next 50 years.
The companies aim to combine their expertise and capabilities to strengthen Pakistan’s energy security, support economic growth and develop a sustainable energy future.
The anniversary marks an important milestone for the PSO-KPC relationship while opening the door to wider cooperation in fuel supplies, refining, storage, logistics and other areas of Pakistan’s energy sector.
