The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has taken legal action against more than 44,000 vehicles and motorcycles for traffic law violations during the recent month, according to ITP published data.
Breakdown of Violations
ITP figures show that 44,078 vehicles, motorcycles, freight vehicles, and public transport vehicles were fined for various violations this month. Of this total, 14,725 were motorcycles and 29,353 were other categories of vehicles.
Impoundments and Cases Registered
Alongside the fines, traffic police impounded 2,662 motorcycles and 3,840 vehicles over serious violations. Authorities also registered 544 cases at police stations across the federal capital during this month.
Awareness Drive Runs Alongside Enforcement
The ITP said enforcement was paired with public education efforts. The Traffic Education Wing conducted 76 awareness workshops at public places, government and private institutions, and schools, colleges, and universities, reaching 72,737 citizens and students.
CTO Urges Voluntary Compliance
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Islamabad Kainat Azhar Khan, who took charge of the post, June this year, said following traffic laws was essential for protecting lives and ensuring a safe travel environment for all citizens. He urged citizens to observe speed limits, wear helmets while riding motorcycles, maintain lane discipline, and follow all others traffic regulations.
Khan added that the ITP’s objective was not to cause unnecessary inconvenience but to provide citizens with a safe and organized traffic system, saying the department was focusing on both enforcement and public education to encourage voluntary compliance.
