Punjab Introduces ‘Pink Button’ System in Schools to Improve Emergency Response

The Punjab government has introduced a “Pink Button” emergency alert system in schools to improve student safety and ensure a faster response during emergencies. The initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen security in educational institutions around the province.

How the Pink Button System Works

The Pink Button is an emergency panic button installed in school buildings. When pressed, it immediately sends an alert to the security authorities and control rooms, allowing them to respond quickly as soon as to the situation.

The system is connected to the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) network, which monitors alerts and works with law enforcement agencies. When the button is pressed, an alert is immediately sent to a central control room, where operators can quickly send police or emergency teams to the location..

This technology-driven solution aims to ensure that help reaches students and staff without delay, especially in situations where using a mobile phone may not be possible.

Part of a Larger School Safety Plan

The Pink Button initiative is part of Punjab’s wider security strategy for educational institutions. They also directed schools to increase their security measures such as CCTV Cameras, specific exiting and entering points.

Expansion Across Schools and Colleges

The pink button system was firstly introduced in women’s colleges and universities in Lahore, where they receive the pink button system in initial phase. Now goverment is planing to expand it in the schools.

Authorities said that this system will implement across the province, ensure the proper installation with Punjab Safe City Authorities (PSCA).They aimed to ensure the student security.
