The Punjab government has officially announced the closure of all schools, colleges, and universities across the province from March 10 to March 31, 2026, issuing a formal notification today.
This measure has been taken due to broader efforts to conserve fuel and cope with economic pressures caused by a global rise in oil prices linked to ongoing regional conflicts. Authorities say reducing travel and daily transport will help in reducing the petrol usage pressure.

Under the notification, physical classes are suspended for three weeks, but scheduled examinations and assessments will be taken as scheduled. Many institutions have been encouraged to shift to online learning where possible, so students’ education is not heavily disrupted.
Punjab’s Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat confirmed the decision in a social‑media post saying that while campuses remain closed, online classes will support continuity and students should follow exam timetables without changes.
Along with the shutdown of schools government is working with the fuel-saving policies. They decided that government workers will do remote work from their homes.
