Islamabad — A well-known Pakistani cricket legend has spoken out with concern for former prime minister Imran Khan’s health after recent reports showed his eyesight has badly affected.
Wasim Akram Shows Support
Former Pakistan cricket captain Wasim Akram said he felt “heartbroken” after hearing about Khan’s eyeside problem. Akram asked Pakistani authorities to make sure Khan gets the best medical care as soon as possible.
He also wished Khan’s strength and a quick recovery. Akram and Imran Khan have been close for many years, especially from their time together in Pakistan’s 1992 World Cup team.
Other Cricket Stars Also Concerned
Other famous cricketers like Shahid Afridi, Waqar Younis, and Shoaib Akhtar have also shared their concern about Imran Khan. They said that Imran Khan should be treated well and will be given proper medical treatment as soon as possible.
Afridi said that getting medical care is a basic right and must be provided without any delay.
Court Orders Health Check-Up
Recently, Pakistan’s Supreme Court was told that Imran Khan now has only about 15 % vision left in his right eye. The court has ordered a full medical treatment of his eyesight and asked that it be done quickly.
The court also allowed Khan to speak by phone with his sons living abroad, which has lifted his spirits.
What Experts Say
Doctors say the eyesight loss may be caused by a blood clot in the eye, which can damage vision if not treated quickly. Recent reports show Khan firstly began having blurred vision months ago, and the condition got worse over time.
Reactions From Party and Family
Khan’s political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has criticised prison officials for not providing better medical help and demanded that he must be examined by expert doctors.
