The Pakistan men’s national field hockey team secured their spot in the 2026 World Cup after a dramatic comeback win against the Japan men’s national field hockey team in the semi-final of the qualifiers held in Ismailia, Egypt.
Pakistan were trailing earlier in the match but made a strong comeback late in the game to win 4–3. The victory not only helped them reach the final of the qualifying tournament but also confirmed their return to the World Cup after eight years.
Pakistan last played in the World Cup in 2018 and did not qualify for the most recent edition. Therefore, qualifying for the 2026 tournament is an great achievement for the national team.
