Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a fresh reduction in fuel prices late Friday night, providing relief to consumers across Pakistan. The government has lowered petrol and high-speed diesel rates after a recent sharp increase.
New Petrol and Diesel Prices
Under the latest revision, petrol price has been reduced by Rs. 12 per litre, bringing it down from Rs. 378 to Rs. 355 per litre. High-speed diesel has seen a much larger cut of Rs. 135 per litre, reducing its price to Rs. 385 per litre from the previous Rs. 520.35 per litre.
The new prices will come into effect from Saturday.
Previous Fuel Price Hike
Earlier, the government had increased fuel prices significantly. Petrol was raised by Rs. 137.24 per litre, while diesel saw an increase of Rs. 184.49 per litre. This pushed petrol to Rs. 458 per litre and diesel to Rs. 520.35 per litre.
Impact on Consumers
The latest reduction is expected to provide immediate relief to transporters, businesses, and household budgets, especially due to the sharp decrease in diesel prices, which directly affects logistics and goods transportation.
Conclusion
The government’s latest decision reflects a reversal after last week’s major hike, bringing partial relief to inflation-hit consumers.
